Job Title Definition:
The Advanced Care Practitioner exercises broad oversight of a variety of activities relating to a professional specialty in health care and/or clinical research including proper performance of assessments, examinations and treatments, accurate client education, appropriate ordering and reporting of test results, and proper use of consultations; includes serving as a resource for internal and external customers, providing sound interpretation and application of professional standards of practice and overall adherence to policies, procedures and protocols. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.

Typical Work Duties
  • Perform medical examinations and evaluations according to best practices and standard of care in collaboration with or under the supervision of licensed physicians
  • Maintain records and communication according to policies and Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC)
  • Provide education and prevention services as integral component of services
  • Resolve complex and unusual issues as they present in patient care and general medical situations
  • Provide analysis and make recommendations for a variety of medical and prevention objectives
  • Lead or participate in committee or project teams within University Health Services or University-wide
  • Provide clinical advice and guidance to professional and support staff and consultations for other providers, students, residents and other trainees
