The Clinical Social Worker/Mental Health Therapist provides initial consultation and ongoing services for students with a wide range of mental health, behavioral and emotional concerns; works to identify and assess student functioning, including internal and external strengths and deficits; develops and participates in implementing a treatment plan to remedy often serious problems that interfere with student success and well-being; may participate in preventive and remedial outreach programs and postventions following campus tragedies; may provide clinical supervision to staff, social work and psychology trainees at the appropriate level. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.

  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention including assessment for safety
  • Provide individual, couples, and group psychotherapy
  • Provide appropriate disposition including on and off campus referrals
  • Provide consultation regarding complex crises and mental health concerns to the University community
  • Provide educational programs and outreach to address campus issues
  • Complete special projects under supervision
  • Collaborate with psychiatric and health care providers as necessary
  • May participate in local, regional and/or national professional associations
