Job Title Definition:
The Compliance Manager oversees and coordinates University-wide compliance; including federally-mandated programs such as conflict of interest, research, compliance education and training; defines goals for future organizational performance and decides on the tasks and uses of resources needed to attain them; communicates goals to employees throughout the unit or organization; leads employees and supports diversity through hiring, retention, and promotional activities; ensures established standards of continuous quality improvement are met; ensures operational and strategic direction and accountability; links unit operations to strategic objectives; exercises authority for unit policies and procedures and operational decisions for departments; influences organizational and community relations to develop and achieve strategic goals and manages customer relations; consults with other institutions, federal and other agencies and other non-University entities and represents the University; supervises assigned employees, providing guidance on planning, prioritizing and developing schedules for tasks, initiatives, or action plans; leads and manages teams. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.

Program Management

  • Oversee and provide input to a variety of compliance-related programs while promoting wise stewardship of the University's physical assets and resources
  • Develop and administer compliance programs; provide continuous analysis, interpretation, resolution and implementation of programs
  • Develop appropriate action plans and execute
  • Interpret federal and state regulations concerning compliance programs; review proposed legislation and regulations and respond to agencies, federal and other regulatory and accreditation entities
  • Evaluate effectiveness of strategic and action plans; determine if results are on target with University objectives, making adjustments as necessary

Customer Service/Communication

  • Evaluate and resolve compliance issues or problems with University staff, faculty, students or visitors with diplomacy
  • Improve services and programs to enhance customer experience utilizing continuous improvement methodology
  • Develop relationships with customers, administrators, other institutions, and regulators as necessary and in the best interests of the program and University
  • Exercise limited authority to speak on behalf of the program(s)

Budget Management

  • Participate in the budgeting process for the program; provide information to budget executive and other senior level management to determine University priorities
  • Administer and manage assigned budgets, determine means and methods to address emergent situations adhering to University priorities
