These functions will include the systematic management of all administrative and operational needs associated with program development and implementation and/or the maintenance of facilities, fields and equipment; management and organization of human resource responsibilities; comprehensive development of financial plans and budget(s) in accordance with University budgetary guidelines; adherence to established safety policies and procedures and formulation and/or adaptation of new policies when appropriate; and the development and facilitation of promotional strategies through the use of all types of media and technology.
Job Title Definition:
The Coordinator of Athletic Facilities oversees athletic/recreational facility operations including but not limited to the components of the facilities physical plant as well as the subsequent user groups to ensure safe occupancy and customer satisfaction; selects, supervises, and evaluates union and non-union employees, students, interns and other part-time staff and may incorporate payroll, workforce scheduling, and work assignments; collaborates with Risk Management to develop emergency procedures and/or establishes, interprets, and reviews athletic/recreational facility safety policies and procedures; maintains certifications, safety records, reports, and effective communication with outside agencies and may manage the use and storage of hazardous materials; maintains, distributes, purchases, and leases athletic/recreational equipment under a designated inventory system while sustaining successful vendor relationships; develops and/or works from a maintenance plan, identifies facility structural needs, acts as a liaison and point of contact with OPP for maintenance and repair requests, and organizes general facility services such as janitorial or inspections; exercises fiscal accountability while working within budgetary constraints; develops athletic/recreational budget(s) and manages operational income, expenses, purchases, and fundraising and makes suggestions regarding revenue sources and capital expenditures; oversees athletic/recreational facility and event management including scheduling, program set-up, arranging work crew and other logistical needs. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.

Typical Work Duties
  • Monitor athletic/recreational facility operations and ensure standards for customer satisfaction
  • Assist with the implementation of the facility marketing and advertising plan(s); maintain and update website(s)
  • Assist in support of logistical needs of events and/or game-day preparations including set-up, tear-down of seating, public address systems, officials’ areas, hospitality, distinguished attendees and/or mid-event responsibilities; work with and support safety/medical personnel (Police, EMS, Athletic Trainers, etc.)
