Job Title Definition:
Engineering Technologists support research and development activities within a field or specialization of an engineering discipline through the application of known engineering principles and practices in order to develop new concepts, products, equipment, or processes. Competency in the use of engineering tools (CAD, GD&T, programming languages, etc.) related to the specific engineering discipline (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, software engineering, etc.), extensive knowledge of products and services available within that discipline, the ability to create test plans and technical reports for use by engineering or management personnel, and the coordination of efforts by junior engineers and/or support specialists are all expected capabilities within this job profile. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.

  • Assist engineering staff and senior engineering technologists in the generation of specialized electrical, mechanical, and/or software tools to support testing of complex electromechanical systems
  • Utilize computer aided design software to generate electrical, mechanical and/or software models to assist the development of design concepts or to support design modifications

  • Manage all aspects of a project, including schedule development, staffing, labor and material budget, technical guidance, test plan preparation, and sponsor/stakeholder interaction
