Job Title Definition:
The Extension Educator oversees the organization providing educational programs for the development of adults and youth; improvement of economic, social and cultural aspects of community and family life; preservation of natural resources and/or other complex public and societal issues; may include the development of leadership within the community and the interpretation and dissemination of the latest research findings in one or more of the following fields: agriculture, family living, community resource development, 4-H youth development, natural resource preservation, or other public and societal issues; evaluates programs to see if intended goals have been reached and develops ideas for improvement of future events by analyzing program results with other co-workers and leaders; represents the University in local communities across the Commonwealth and/or nationally. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.

  • Develop and adapt educational material and programs that are culturally sensitive, relevant, and appropriate for a variety of different situations so that information can be used and understood by both individuals and groups
  • Organize, coordinate, and manage meetings, events, tours, clinics, workshops, roundups, and/or shows
  • Assist in the administration of external funds received from government, organizations, businesses, and individuals for the support of department / unit programs; obtain grants
