Child care center teaches the importance of diversity and inclusion

In July of 2016, Penn State assumed responsibility for the Child Care Center at Hort Woods, which had been previously managed by an outside provider. With that, the center sought ways in which to incorporate Penn State’s values into their curriculum. Among Penn State’s values is respect, and the importance to foster a diverse and inclusive environment. Although the demographics of central PA are primarily Caucasian, Penn State’s enrollment is diverse, including many students of color and international students. Hort Woods’ enrollment is even more diverse. This further emphasizes the need for discussion around diversity and the importance of inclusion.
