Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.

Typical Work Duties
- Analyze, interpret and provide advice on user accounts and service options
- Resolve and answer moderately complex requests and interpret library policy and practice for library users
- Suspend and/or grant exceptions to the application of policies, rules, regulations and fee assessments; ensure proper money handling procedures are followed
- Provide intermediate subject-based reference, information, format based cataloging and referral services to users combining a wide range of library and information sources
- Search a variety of specialized or subject related resources, using various search strategies, and select matching record for known items
- Assist with preparing and implementing outreach materials (including displays, exhibits, video productions, print/electronic publications and instruction)
- Collaborate with other library units to develop consistency in procedures; serve as primary contact in specialized areas
- Implement assessment activities and recommend methods to assess unit effectiveness
- Exercise limited expenditure authorization for assigned work unit; recommend expenditures based on front-line operational knowledge
- Provide information to senior management in assisting with budget development, which includes investigating and recommending products and services
- Provide and/or coordinate collection security including entrance/exit control, opening/closing procedures, and responding to alarms
- Ensure compliance with existing contracts/licenses, within area of responsibility and report problems to senior management
- May serve as technology resource assisting others in unit with routine hardware and software issues
