Job Title Definition:
The Investment Manager is responsible for developing strategies for managing a significant portfolio of investments, including meeting with fund managers, preparing and reporting on the analysis of investments and investment strategies, working with the University’s investment advisors; assists in the analysis of a variety of treasury activities including internal investment activity, external investments, banking relationships, cash management, and external relations; assists in the development of funding and investment strategies for University and unit assets. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.

Typical Work Duties
  • Manage sourcing activities for assigned sub-set of University investment funds including professional networking, strategy evaluation, manager interviews and due diligence
  • Develop/implement risk-based asset allocation model and performance analytics in order to prepare recommendations for senior management and University investment advisors
  • Monitor/evaluate portfolios by communicating with external managers, developing manager reports, as well as assessing manager roles and their adherence to the fund investment strategy(ies)
  • Investigate potential portfolio additions/reallocations that optimize the management of risk and long-term return of identified investment goals
  • Prepare and analyze investment reports for senior management and Board committee use
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of consultant/staff in sourcing, due diligence, monitoring and reporting

  • Support the overall management of the University’s investment programs including the establishment and review of investment goals and the leveraging of multi-currency and multi-asset portfolio strategies to reduce risk and enhance long-term performance
  • Manage multi-billion dollar investment funds; establish performance goals, allocate resources, and assess policies in order to make recommendations to senior management, University investment advisors, and Board of Trustees
  • Monitor/evaluate portfolios by communicating with external managers, developing manager reports, as well as assessing manager roles and their adherence to the fund investment strategy(ies)
