Occupational Safety and Environmental Health Managers oversees and coordinates University-wide Occupational Safety and Environmental Health programs including laboratory safety, industrial hygiene, radiation protection, waste management, environmental protection, and other specific safety programs. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.
Working Conditions:

Other Requirements:
40 hr Hazwoper Training may be required.

Required Certifications, Registrations or Licensure:
Certified Hazardous Materials Program Manager (CHMM) accreditation may be required; Certified Safety Professional (CSP) accreditation may be required; 40 hr Hazwoper Training may be required; Trustworthy and Reliable per Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Radiation Protection guidance may be required

Typical Work Duties
  • Direct and provide input to a variety of safety or environmental-related programs while promoting wise stewardship of the University's physical assets and resources
  • Develop and administer OSEH programs; provide continuous analysis, interpretation, resolution and implementation of programs
  • Interpret federal and state regulations concerning OSEH programs; review proposed legislation and regulations and respond to agencies
  • Evaluate and resolve OSEH issues or problems with University staff, faculty, students or visitors
  • Contribute to developing the vision and mission for the unit, and ensure that it is consistently and effectively integrated into all aspects of the unit's operations
  • Champion and positively impact diversity in the workplace and University community
  • Guide and train others in routine activities and functions
  • Serve as a liaison between senior management and employees

  • Develop the vision and mission for the unit and ensure that it is consistently and effectively integrated into all aspects of the unit's operations; ensure consistency with the University's overall mission and vision statements
  • Utilize project management skills to accomplish significant undertakings, delegate according to project plans
  • Serve as senior expert and consultant to top management officials to advise on integrating OSEH programs with other University programs of equivalent scope and complexity
