Job Title Definition:
The Purchasing Manager assists in the overall management of a purchasing unit(s); procures commodities, major acquisitions, and services according to all University policies and procedures and government regulations, when applicable; creates and maintains a variety of information in electronic systems; creates or supports the strategic initiatives of an academic or administrative work unit; participates on, and possibly leads, work groups and committees; participates in the financial success of the operation; oversees vendor relations and compliance and seeks out new supply sources; manages University wide programs and services. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.
