Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.

Typical Work Duties
  • Process requests and invoices through material, inventory and financial electronic systems; pull physical inventory as required
  • Provide support to customers and vendors to include placing orders, shipping items, coordinating delivery schedules, resolving problems and providing product information
  • Ensure proper billing of materials
  • Assist in periodic physical inventories
  • Complete and maintain reports on inventory items
  • Collect and disseminate information with regard to project and work assignments
  • Receive, inspect and ship inventory items
  • Prepare products for sale
  • Provide sales support to customers
  • May transfer, tag and track inventory items
  • May use a point of sale system to manage inventory
  • May supervise staff and direct the work of others

Typical Work Duties
  • Evaluate products, pricing and alternate product vendors
  • Contact vendors to place orders for supplies and equipment
  • Oversee electronic inventory and financial systems
  • Monitor and administer physical inventories and ensure availability to meet customer demands
  • Provide support and information to customers regarding new items, future product demands, and product delivery
  • Review work orders for completeness and accuracy and release for payment
  • Monitor inventories for quality and resolve problems; ensure items under warranty are returned and replacements received
  • Responsible for transferring, tagging and tracking inventory items and preparing various inventory reports
  • May prepare items for shipment; maintain safety standards and certifications and monitor vendor and carrier performance
  • May serve as a liaison with vendors, freight companies and/or other University departments
  • May supervise staff and direct the work of others
