Job Title Definition:
The Safety and Security Manager manages safety and security programs and related activities, ensuring compliance with government and University policies, directives and procedures; develops and directs organizational safety and security strategy; oversees the implementation of efforts to minimize loss; enhances security and creates business opportunity through the control of risk; serves as the lead internal safety and security consultant for the organization; trains, supervises, and coordinates the activities of the safety and security teams. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.
 
Working Conditions:

Other Requirements:

Typical Work Duties
  • Administer framework necessary to ensure safety and security operations, policies, and procedures; oversee the correction of all issues in the interest of safety, security and risk reduction
  • Assess program risk and assist in the development of appropriate strategy
  • Lead investigations, audits, and security inspections
  • Assist with the analysis and interpretation of trends and regulatory changes
  • Recommend new policies, procedures, programs, and services for continual improvement
  • Communicate information regarding procedural requirements and other government, local, and University mandates; collaborate with external governmental and local agencies
  • Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of special programs
  • Collaborate on budgetary matters

  • Develop and implement safety and security operations, policies, procedures, and training to ensure compliance with all University and/or government operations, policies, and procedures
  • Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, risks, vulnerabilities, and threats to University safety and security in the development of appropriate safety and security strategy
  • Oversee the performance of facility, special program, contract, divisional, and all other security personnel
  • Manage the investigation and correction of all security compliance issues
  • Lead investigations, audits, and security inspections
  • Analyze, track and interpret regulatory changes and trends based on broad perspective; identify necessary policy modifications

  • Lead University safety and security efforts in planning, implementation, threat detection, risk mitigation, and response
