Job Title Definition:
The Systems Engineering Specialist applies systems engineering practices and processes for the development of advanced systems and integrates all of the technical efforts related to the development, manufacturing, verification, deployment, operations, support, disposal of, and user training for systems and their life cycle processes; includes developing technical information to support the program management decision-making process, management and control of the definition and management of the system configuration and the translation of the system definition into work breakdown structures; includes engineering configuration management and change control, engineering data management and technical writing, system quality assurance and quality control, engineering material management and inventory control, engineer integrated logistics support (includes system reliability, availability, maintainability, testability, training analysis), and program safety analysis; involves hardware and software engineering activity, as well as evaluating findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, and/or processes; requires preparing technical reports for use by engineer and management staff for long- and short-range planning. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.
