Student Auxiliary Officer - Part Time

JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

Student Auxiliary Officers are uniformed student employees who assist in providing security and traffic control on campus; support University Police at campus events; provide security in and around the residence hall areas; provide staffing for the Safe Walk service.

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

• Patrol university property for the purpose of preventing crime, personal injuries, and property damage
• Monitor assigned campus areas for safety and security violations and hazards
• Report unusual activity, safety concerns, and security violations to University Police
• Ensure designated University buildings are locked and secure
• Respond to questions and provide information
• Direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic during events
• Accompany students, employees, and visitors as part of the Safe Walk service
• Report facility/building issues, items not meeting standards, or repair needs to appropriate personnel
• Provide supplemental security at University events and select facilities
• Stay abreast of University security policies, rules, and regulations
• May operate a motor vehicle

REQUIREMENTS: If operating a motor vehicle, a valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required.
