Project Management Series (4 part series)
***Please note that this is a four-part, introductory program and that participation is expected in all four parts of the program to receive credit for attending.***
Part I: Project Management - Overview and Initiation
This session defines a project and examines the five main project management process groups. Participants will learn about the PM Triple Constraint and how it applies to all projects. Begin working on small group in-class project.
- Define a Project
- Learn the five major project management process groups.
- Learn the Triple Constraint
Part II: Project Management - Initiation and Planning
Participants will initiate the project with kick off and Charter sessions. This involves identifying stakeholders and requirements gathering. Planning will occur leveraging common PM tools to accomplish this while continuing to work on the small group in-class project.
- Develop a project charter.
- Understand the basics of a sound project scope statement.
- Create a work breakdown structure.
- Learn about the Network Diagram
Part III: Project Management - Execution with Monitoring and Controlling
Participants will venture into execution of the project learning the tools to assist in this process such as: The Communication Plan, Risk Management Plan, RACI Matrix and a few more tools to assist in the successful completion of the project. Work will continue the small group in-class project.
- Prioritize risks and develop appropriate responses.
- Develop a communications management plan.
Part IV: Project Management - Closing, Methodologies, and Soft Skills
Participants will focus on what is necessary to bring a successful project to a close. Participants will again focus on communication but also the importance in leveraging soft skills to assist in the entirety of PM. Work on the small group -in class project will be completed.
- Close processes and the project successfully
- Focus on Soft Skills as a resource for the entirety of project management.
