JOB TITLE DEFINITION:

A Peer Mentor provides guidance, support, and encouragement to new and current students; helps assigned mentees adapt to university life, develop study skills, and build connections within the university community; promotes student success and enhances the overall Penn State experience.

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:

• Serve as a positive role model and resource for assigned student mentees
• Assist students in setting academic and personal goals
• Provide support in time management, study strategies, and course selection
• Organize and facilitate workshops, study groups, and social events
• Foster a sense of belonging and community among mentees
• Actively listen to and address students’ concerns and challenges
• Collaborate with university staff and faculty to enhance student support services
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to university policies
