JOB TITLE DEFINITION:
The Skilled Trades Technician is responsible for performing skilled work in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of systems, equipment, and infrastructure in support of facility, utility, and operational needs; requires technical knowledge, hands-on problem-solving skills, and a strong understanding of safety standards across one or more skilled trade disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, utilities, or equipment maintenance.
SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, systems, or infrastructure based on trade specialty (e.g., electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC units, mechanical equipment, or utility systems)
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure reliability and efficiency of systems and equipment
- Diagnose issues and troubleshoot malfunctions using appropriate tools, equipment, and technical documentation
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to perform work accurately and safely
- Operate tools, machinery, and diagnostic equipment specific to trade functions
- Maintain records of work performed, including maintenance logs, repair reports, and inventory use
- Adhere to safety protocols, regulatory codes, and environmental standards at all times
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to support facility operations and minimize downtime
REQUIREMENTS: Industry licensures and certifications may be required.
