JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

The Part-Time Attorney provides legal counsel and support to the institution on a broad range of matters affecting higher education operations, to include but not limited to legal compliance, risk management, policy development, contracts, employment matters, student affairs, and governance issues.

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, memoranda of understanding, and other legal documents
• Advise on compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting higher education
• Provide counsel on employment-related matters, including personnel issues, workplace investigations, discrimination claims, and labor relations
• Support student affairs personnel on issues involving student conduct, disability accommodations, Title IX compliance, FERPA, and related matters
• Assist with policy development, review, and implementation to ensure legal compliance and alignment with institutional objectives
• Identify and assess legal risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies
• Coordinate with internal or external counsel on litigation, regulatory matters, and specialized legal issues as needed
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting higher education and advise stakeholders regarding potential impacts
• Provide training and educational presentations on legal and compliance topics
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment in handling sensitive institutional matters

REQUIREMENTS: Juris Doctor (JD) and must be a Licensed Attorney by the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners
