JOB TITLE DEFINITION:
Set up and serve events such as banquets, caterings, and conference refreshment services; prepare, package, transport, deliver, and or serve food and beverages; provide customer service; clean and operate machines and equipment; clean kitchen areas, dining rooms, concession stands, etc.
SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Set up grills, chaffing dishes, condiment/beverage stations, tables, chairs, place settings, linen, decorations, and other equipment and materials for catered functions, banquets, special dinners, conference breaks, and other events; follow event order forms and set-up diagrams
- Prepare machines and equipment for operation and make minor adjustments
- Prepare coffee, tea, and other beverages; assemble fruit, bread, pastry, and dry snack trays
- Securely package, transport, deliver, serve, and replenish catered and conference break items, including food, beverage, equipment, and materials
- Serve banquet food and beverages to tables, or while circulating amongst guests; monitor, maintain, and replenish service lines and buffets; ensure time, temperature, and freshness requirements; provide customer service including answering questions, seating, etc.
- May assist cooks prepare, combine, season, and cook food
- Maintain event area in a clean and orderly fashion; clear tables during and after events; clean/drain equipment, dishware, glassware, utensils, linens, pots, pans, etc.; burnish and de-tarnish silver, remove stains from china; stack and store in proper areas
- Clean assigned areas; dust and polish furniture and fixtures; sweep and mop floors; operate dish machine; collect and remove refuse and garbage
- Assist storeroom clerk receive, store, issue, and deliver food and supplies; clean, process, and portion various raw food products
- Report any unusual conditions, damages, or equipment malfunctions
