Emergency Medical Technician - Part Time

JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

Emergency Medical Technicians provide 911 patient emergency care on an ambulance or at a specialist event venue; respond to medical emergencies in pre-hospital environment, determine extent of illness or injury, and provide standard treatment. Note: Paramedic positions should not be classified in this title.  

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

• Respond to medical emergencies; assess patients; provide treatment in accordance with Basic Life Support standard curriculum 
• Transport patients according to established protocols 
• Assist Advanced Life Support (Paramedic) providers with patient care management, as required 
• Perform non-emergency “routine” medical transportation utilizing ambulances 
• Complete appropriate patient care, billing, vehicle checklists, and other various documentation 
• Maintain EMS facilities (vehicles, supplies, equipment) in a clean and ready state 
• Participate in EMS continuing education training and quality improvement activities as it relates to emergency medical services 
• Utilize various pieces of equipment in the course of patient care management (oxygen tanks, stretchers, etc.) 
• Provide training and guidance to EMT Trainees 

REQUIREMENTS: Requires the successful completion of an approved Emergency Medical Technician course and relevant certification.
