Excellence in Management
April 14, 2020
Dear Colleagues,
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and uncertain timing and process for the return to work and group meetings at Penn State, we have decided to postpone the scheduled summer offering of the Excellence in Management program at this time. We will be working with our partners in the Smeal College of Business, Executive Programs to reintroduce the program once we have a better idea of when we can gather in person again. We will also take this time to consider alternate methods of delivering the Excellence in Management program as we quickly embrace the technology that allows us to connect in a remote environment.
Sincerely,
Penn State HR-Talent Management
About the Program
Excellence in Management (EIM) is a joint offering by Human Resources (HR) and the Penn State Executive Programs. This program is designed to provide managers and directors at the University with the strategic perspective and skills required to effectively lead a unit and steward resources.
Participants attending the program will learn how to create strategic direction, align people and resources to implement the unit’s goals and strategies, and lead change. Special focus will be placed on creating an environment of ethics and value-based decision-making, accountability, and calculated risk-taking and innovation.
Delivered through six one-day sessions, the program prepares Penn State leaders to critically assess and respond to the changing environment, see how the forces of culture impact performance, understand how financial measures are linked to strategy, and hone leadership skills that establish a common sense of purpose for commitment and cooperation. This program also offers each participant an option to participate in a 360 Leadership Development Assessment, and a one hour debrief/coaching session.
This program is typically scheduled twice a year, once in the summer (June/July) and once in the winter (January/February).
Please note that there is no fee for Penn State employees to attend this program.
