Laundry Worker - Part Time

JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

Operate laundry machines. Wash, dry, iron, and repair linen, uniforms, towels, etc.  

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

• Receive, count, sort, and examine soiled laundry. Report discrepancies 
• Pre-soak, sterilize, scrub, and spot-clean contaminated or stained articles 
• Load washers and dryers; turn levers to regulate machine processes; determine and use appropriate amounts of detergent, bleach, softener, etc.; shake out, hang, fold, iron, assemble 
• Operate washers, dryers, hand iron, steamers, flatwork ironer, small pieces folder, stretch frames, lift tables, etc.; clean filters; lubricate 
• Mend and sew articles, using hand stitching, adhesive patches, or sewing machines 
• Load linens, uniforms, and other laundry onto shelf carts or other delivery containers according to predetermined counts, or by using inventory control marks 
• Assist in maintaining the laundry area and its equivalent in a clean and orderly condition
