Engineering Assistant/Associate - Part Time

JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

The Engineering Assistant/Associate role works under the direction of lead engineering staff, employing specialized knowledge in one or more engineering disciplines, to assist and support production planning and research tasks. This title includes Engineering Interns.

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

• Contribute to the design and analysis of production plans; assist with testing activities, data collection, executing calculations, evaluating materials and assembly methods 
• Calibrate, inspect, troubleshoot, and operate equipment in support of research efforts  
• Collaborate with members of engineering teams including leadership, designers, and other support roles  
• May perform assembly operations and fabrication of facility and test equipment  
• May create models, schematics, circuit card assemblies, assembly drawings, and detail technical drawings 
• May utilize computer aided design, databases, or inspection software tools to support engineering programs  
• Provide input and recommendations on material selection, geometric tolerancing, dimensioning analysis, manufacturing, assembly process analysis, and cost-effective design 
• Obtain and transfer data from field sketches and as-built drawings to finished products; prepare completed drawings 
• May work as part of a test project support team  
• May participate in an internship program related to a specialized engineering discipline
