Arts Specialist - Part Time

JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

The Arts Specialist provides professional production services in one or more of the following areas: lighting and sound projections, set design, back of house management, costume design, creative expression, and/or artistic performance.

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

• Provide artistic direction and program support for presentations, performances, exhibitions, and educational activities
• Participate in the design of sets, and/or visual/performing arts products
• Assist in the coordination and preparation of projects in accordance with proper theatrical stage and/or arts venue requirements
• May provide administrative leadership including staffing, inventory, and budget
• May contribute to or oversee back of house operations
• Ensure compliance with building-related laws and regulations, health, safety, and fire codes
• Assist in the preparation of specifications, layouts, requisitions, and/or bid invitations
• Maintain deadlines for events; may coordinate the work of others
• Assist with the identification of technical needs for events and review with appropriate manager or resource person
• May creatively contribute to productions through acting, acting instruction, playing music, and/or creating other artistic products
• May support costume operations, including patterning, cutting, draping, alterations, and stitching
• Train others in the use of equipment
