JOB TITLE DEFINITION: 

Health Services Support positions provide medical care and or/support to patients in either healthcare or research settings. This job title is not to be used for Pharmacy Technicians, Emergency Medical Technicians or Nurses that fall under a collective bargaining agreement.

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

• Provide defined patient care or research in accordance with regulations; apply standard health practices and techniques in appropriate situations
• Take patient measurements and record observations, collect, compile and process data in support of projects
• Observe, record, and report the patient's condition or injury, the treatment provided, and reactions to drugs or treatment
• Evaluate nature and extent of illness or injury to assist in the establishment and prioritization of medical procedures
• Attend to injuries or illnesses by applying a variety of pre-hospital treatments
• Collaborate with other team members to accomplish organizational goals; provide ideas to improve efficiency at group level
• May provide emergency care services for events  
• May initiate or contribute data/analysis/design for use in reports, documents, proposals, or oral/written presentations
• May serve as an intern in a health related field of study
