IT Cyber Security Specialist - Part Time

JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

This title covers cyber security, information assurance, and compliance design, integration, implementation, modification, and coordination of the installation, testing, operation, and disposition of hardware and software systems.  

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

• Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for system, network, and application design, implementation, and operation of systems 
• Conduct vulnerability assessments of systems and networks to identify deviations from acceptable configurations or policies 
• Respond to system and network security incidents 
• Investigate and resolve standard security vulnerabilities with minimal oversight, including firewalls, electronic data traffic, network access, and architectures 
• Perform periodic audits of departmental systems under general supervision 
• Monitor the corrective actions of system audits; draft documentation of Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) for review 
• Perform total system analyses to include but not limited to design, configuration, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal 
• Participate in the establishment of program control processes to ensure risk mitigation 
• Participate in the implementation of required policies, procedures, and configurations  
• Participate in the testing, implementation, and operation of secure operating systems, networks, databases, and security event monitoring products 
• Assist with the forensic preservation of hard drives 
• Maintain documentation and correct as necessary 
• Demonstrate proficient understanding of system and network security principles and technology
