JOB TITLE DEFINITION

The Police Academy Cadet is to attend and satisfactorily complete the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) Act 120 Training Program.

JOB DUTIES:

• Attend police skills and knowledge classes
• Participate in discussions and practical exercises
• Take and maintain notes
• Complete homework assignments, research papers, and assigned projects in a timely manner; earn passing grades
• Demonstrate proficiency and qualification for patrol vehicle operation including pursuit driving, firearms and other weapons handling, use of force/defense tactics, CPR and other first aid, etc.
• Maintain physical and mental fitness
• Comply with all instructions, rules, regulations, and policies

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School graduate or equivalent Accepted into the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) Act 120 Certification Course 0 to 1 year of relevant experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Driver's License; U.S. citizenship; ability to pass PA State Police Criminal Background check, Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background check, motor vehicle records check, credit history check; successful completion of psychological evaluation and physical examination, and PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
