Premium contributions are based on your annual base salary (faculty/staff as of October 31, 2022; Technical Service as of September 30, 2022). Your 2023 premium contribution amount is effective January 1, 2023. The 2023 rate is reflected in the Benefits Open Enrollment area of Workday, which you will see when you are making elections for the next year. Your 2023 premium contribution amount is effective January 1, 2023, and will remain constant for the entire year, regardless of salary increases, decreases, position changes, or job transfers throughout the year. Also, appointments of irregular duration will be adjusted as deemed appropriate when the appointment is updated.

Dually-Employed Spouses at Penn State
If both spouses are employed by Penn State, medical coverage must be carried by the higher-paid employee. For Technical Service employees, this only applies if both employee and spouse are Teamsters members.
