Talent Reviews
Talent Reviews is a process that enables managers to evaluate their team members’ readiness to take on new responsibilities by reviewing each employee’s skills, performance and potential. Performance management and career conversations are two activities that inform this process.
The goals of a talent review process are:
- Identify employees that are ready to take on additional responsibility that could include movement into a leadership role.
- Identify skill gaps across a team and actions you can take to eliminate these gaps.
- Establish a pipeline of talent that is able to fill critical roles as needed.
- Identify retention risks across the organization.
- Make informed decisions related to professional development and recruiting.
Talent reviews are a collaborative conversation between a manager, leadership and the HR Strategic Partner. To learn more about this process, access the Workforce Planning Toolkit for Managers.
