JOB TITLE DEFINITION:
Media Specialist positions are responsible for the planning and coordination of media productions; schedule, create, and distribute media for a variety of venues and audiences that may include, but are not limited to, broadcast, radio, online, face-to-face, and other delivery modalities; maintain quality and artistic integrity based on the vision of the finished project. Note: This title does not include Videographers/Editors.
SAMPLEWORK ACTIVITIES:
- Meet with clients to assess needs and conceptualize ideas
- Implement the artistic vision of a production while following project specifications, timeline, budget, and deadlines
- Oversee progress from pre-production through to post-production; may control the budget and allocate resources
- Develop and/or review production plans; develop/edit scripts; research and assess content ideas
- Plan production details such as framing, scenery, lighting, composition, camera movement, and sound
- Prepare and test video and graphical content to be used during shows; making changes when necessary
- Coordinate the activities of writers, directors, managers, and other personnel throughout the production process
- Provide consultative and technical assistance to media productions
- May communicate to actors the approach, characterization, and movement needed during production
- May serve as on-air talent for television, radio, or athletic events
- May direct crews and assigned staff, both in studio and on location
- May prepare and serve as technical director for daily broadcast operations
- May supervise staff for the production, such as the director, assistant directors, crew, and cast
