Compliance Specialist - Part Time

JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

Compliance Specialist positions perform the implementation of programs to ensure compliance with required protocol, regulations, and laws such as research protections and integrity, conflicts of interest, contract compliance and grant compliance; review federal and state requirements, research protocols, and other government, local, and University mandates to ensure the University and its employees are in compliance with these regulations; assist in mandated training and education programs; provide guidance and recommendations to administration, faculty, staff, and students; routine monitoring for program compliance and/or in response to reports of non-compliance or concerns; review new regulations to determine impact on the institution and applicable faculty, staff, or students. 

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

  • Participate in the implementation of programs to ensure compliance with required protocols, regulations, and laws including federally mandated program requirements 
  • Inform others on federal and state requirements, research protocols, and other government, local, and University mandates, and communicate information to appropriate parties on current requirements and/or changes 
  • Respond to notifications of unsafe conditions, contract non-compliance, systems and/or data usage issues or other discrepancies and report findings to appropriate management, compliance committees, administration, federal agencies 
  • Gather preliminary information for investigations  
  • Provide education to faculty, staff and students regarding regulatory and other requirements related to compliance 
  • Assist in managing compliance with disclosure and training requirements, and completion of federal registrations 
  • Collect, organize, and review documentation related to individual, group, and institutional compliance requirements; help maintain database records, official files for all research, and statistical records 
  • May assist in the creation and/or update of policies and procedures related to compliance
