JOB TITLE DEFINITION:
Instructional Designer positions support and develop solutions for Learning Design, which includes the implementation of various approaches and strategies for incorporating instructional technology across academic programs; develop strategies for implementing instructional technology in a learning environment across a broad range of academic programs and initiatives; collaborate with clients and information/instructional technology staff to resolve issues related to technology use in teaching, including application assessment, pedagogy, deployment methodologies, and integration strategies; consult with others to create solutions for academic programs, departments, and similar units.
SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Make recommendations regarding course design and instruction delivery options
- Integrate several related client needs to develop appropriate solutions for teaching and learning
- Conduct needs and learning assessments to develop the basis for curriculum development
- Define instructional, learning, or performance objectives
- Assist with the creation of learning resources and related documentation as dictated by course design
- Recommend learning methods, such as individual or group instruction, self-study, lectures, and/or demonstrations
- Provide analytical support for the design and development of curriculum and learning strategies
- Research emerging instructional design methods and stay abreast of current trends
- Define, implement, and coordinate project activities and related research through reports, publications, and presentations
- Work on teams with faculty and staff on the integration of technology into the classroom/distributed learning environment
- Assist with the development and delivery of technology training workshops including developing course materials
- Collaborate with clients and technology staff to resolve issues related to technology use in teaching
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree in a relevant area of study
