Customer Service Representative - Part Time

JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

Customer Service Representative positions provide operational support to a variety of University functions; contributes to a broad range of customer service-related activities across the University; promotes and markets products and/or services to internal or external customers. Working titles within Customer Service Representative include cashiers, ticket sales, parking attendants, guest relations, event ushers, front desk attendants (except fitness and recreation facilities), and elevator attendants.  

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

  • Serves as first point of contact for internal and external customers 
  • Provide guidance and responses to customer inquires; redirect or escalate when necessary 
  • Respond to complaints or issues and provide solutions in a timely manner 
  • Maintain knowledge of University policies, procedures, and practices to answer routine inquires or solve routine problems 
  • Operate equipment and/or computer systems within unit or department, including point of sale (POS) systems  
  • Receive payments and issue receipts, refunds, or change to customers  
  • Sell or collect admission and/or parking tickets and verify ticket information  
  • Direct and assist customers in locating their seats at events  
  • Provide customers with instructions for locating available parking based on pass type and event restrictions; may control entry to assigned parking areas 
  • Assist in the promotion of products and/or services to internal and external customers  
  • Report equipment malfunctions and repair needs as necessary  
  • Assist in maintaining departmental/unit manuals, documentations, and records 
  • Communicate with various departments/units to accommodate changing business needs 
  • May greet guests, assign rooms, issue keys, and make reservations (hospitality venues)
