Heating and Ventilation Technician - Part Time

JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

Perform commercial and domestic heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems installation, service maintenance, and repair. 

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

  • Service, maintain, repair, replace, and install air, heat, cooling, ventilation, humidification systems, and auxiliary components, controls, coils, sensing devices, supply and return lines 
  • Check temperatures in condensing lines and traps; repair or replace traps using temperature sensing and recording equipment; clean, repair, or replace strainers, valves, and other fittings 
  • Adjust building/room controls to maintain prescribed temperature on heat and re-heat systems 
  • Inspect condensate stations; adjust, clean, calibrate, install, repair/replace condensate controls, tanks, and meters. Refer other repairs as necessary, i.e., power loss, pump or motor problems 
  • Service, maintain, repair, and install air handling equipment, such as univents, fan coil units, exhaust fans, make-up air fans, unit heaters, air handling units for single and multiple zones to include lubrication, filter and coil cleaning, changing belts, bearing cages and blading, balancing air handling equipment and installation and adjustment of pulleys 
  • Service, maintain, repair, and install dampers, their drives, control mechanisms and sensing devices; inspect and repair ducting 
  • Service, maintain, repair, and install converters, radiators, radiation units, and coils, including valving, traps, strainers and unit tubing 
  • Install and maintain filtering and trapping station in pneumatic air supply lines 
  • Make temporary repairs to oil burners and systems. Assist oil burner mechanics, as necessary 
  • Work with lead technician on complicated repairs or on construction of new or special units 

REQUIREMENTS: HVAC trades training and applicable certifications.
