JOB TITLE DEFINITION:
Aircraft Mechanics troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and overhaul airframe structures, aircraft systems, aircraft components, and aircraft powerplants; operate, troubleshoot, maintain and repair aerospace ground equipment; and, may perform Airport Attendant duties.
SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Examine, troubleshoot, repair, service, maintain, test, remove, install, overhaul, modify, assemble/disassemble/reassemble airframe structures, aircraft systems, components, and powerplants
- Follow drawings, schematics, symbols, diagrams, blueprints, graphs, charts, engineering orders, and technical publications
- Conduct correctness and proper function inspections; sign for own work as mechanic
- Participate in aircraft flight checks; troubleshoot issues or test adequacy of maintenance/repairs; make in-flight adjustments and corrections as necessary; note discrepancies and actions
- Weigh aircraft; perform weight-and-balance check measurements and calculations; record data
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and operate aerospace ground equipment
- Operate measuring and test equipment including ignition analyzers, compression checkers, distributor timers, and ammeters; hand/power tools and equipment such as gauges, saws, shears, grinders, drills, punches, clamps, wrenches, hoists, forklifts, x-ray and magnetic inspection equipment
- Comply with FAA regulations; repair station maintenance and quality control manuals; manufacturer’s aircraft maintenance data sheets, manuals, and publications; service bulletins, and other regulatory or maintenance specifications
- Clean aircraft and aircraft components; maintain repair station in a neat and orderly condition.
- Perform Airport Attendant duties as directed
