JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

Health Services Specialist positions perform advanced health care services to provide care in an area of specialty. These positions specialize in health care and/or clinical research, including precise measurement and accurate reporting of results of a variety of specialized tests, examinations, assessments, and consultations; serve as a resource for internal and external customers; provide sound interpretation and application of professional standards of care and overall adherence to policies, procedures, and protocols.

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

• Perform medical assessments according to best practices and standard of care
• Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations; correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes
• Provide analysis and make recommendations for a variety of medical and prevention objectives
• Provide education and prevention services as integral component of services
• Provide patient care or research in accordance with licensing regulations
• Gather and record accurate patient data; maintain records and communication in accordance with polices and regulatory requirements
• Take patient measurements and record observations; collect, compile, and process data in support of work unit projects
• Provide recommendations in the development of programs, policies, and procedures
