Power Plant Worker - Part Time

JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

Perform a variety of duties in support of University Power Plant operations.  

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

  • Assist with the installation, operation, repair, service, inspection, and/or testing of Power Plant equipment and components 
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on Power Plant systems and components such as steam traps, valves, and pipes 
  • May inspect, clean, lubricate, check calibration, and perform minor repair on a variety of metering, control, and recording instruments 
  • Observe equipment under operating conditions and make necessary adjustments; detect unusual conditions and defective materials and report to supervisor 
  • Use proper safety precautions and follow established procedures 
  • Reference manufacturer and University manuals and instructions to accomplish scheduled maintenance; maintain logs and records as required 
  • Maintain awareness of personnel within the Power Plant; safeguard equipment and personnel 
  • Log various data concerning plant operations to include inspection and maintenance schedules, systems readings, fuel, supplies, orders, etc. 
  • Maintain all mechanical and electrical areas in a clean and orderly manner 

REQUIREMENTS: May require specialized licensure
