JOB TITLE DEFINITION:  

Safety and Security Support positions implement programs, plans, policies, and procedures in the interest of University safety, security and risk reduction; ensure the safety and security of the campus community; respond to notifications of unsafe conditions or threats; conduct inspections and audits to maintain preparedness; provide education and training to the University community; ensure established procedures are followed by employees, students, and visitors; contribute to the development of emergency and business continuity plans; collaborate with external governmental and local agencies.

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:  

• Implement programs, plans, and procedures in the interest of safety, security, and risk reduction 
• Communicate information regarding procedural requirements and other government, local, and University mandates; respond to questions and provide general information 
• Collect, organize, and review documentation related to individual, group, and institutional compliance requirements 
• Conduct preliminary investigation of safety and security incidents and determine if escalation is required 
• Respond to notifications of unsafe conditions and report findings to appropriate personnel 
• Participate in the investigation of safety and security incidents 
• Assist in the identification and assessment of emerging threats, weaknesses, and opportunities that could impact safety and security operations 
• Recommend policies and procedures, as well as operational security measures that reduce risk and exposure
• Coordinate and facilitate training in accordance with best practices 
• Collect, analyze, maintain, and distribute data relevant to the safety of the community 
• May monitor camera feeds from various facilities 
• May ensure facility security measures are intact
• May escort guests at secure facilities
