Managing Self

The first step toward effective management is investing in yourself so that you can be the best leader for your team. What strengths do you bring to your manager role? What is your personal leadership style? What values and beliefs inform who you are as a manager? How do you approach communication?

This track uses the CliftonStrengths assessment to help you identify your natural talents and how you can leverage them as a manager. With a focus on self-awareness, we encourage you to start your management development journey by completing this track. Increasing your self-awareness will set you up for success in the next two tracks in this 3-part series – Managing Your Team and Managing the Work.

Courses in the Managing Self track are:

  • Recognizing and Understanding your Strengths
  • Authentic Leadership
  • Effective Communication as a Leader
  • Adopting a New Leadership Mindset to Drive DEIB
  • Leading and Managing Change

Keep the conversation going with group coaching

After you've completed the Managing Self program, you'll have the opportunity to apply what you've learned in the classroom in the real world. We’ve established group coaching, which extends the concepts discussed in the program. Participants will be part of a group of 5-8 program peers. With the support of a facilitator, the group will participate in six (6), 90-minute sessions. Based on their personal experiences, participants will identify specific topics or situations they want to address using a blend of facilitation and peer coaching. Eligible participants will receive an email upon completion of the Managing Self track with a link to register, or you can access the registration page at Managing Self: A Group Coaching Experience.
